Fees for research degrees 2024-2025
Tuition fees for full-time and part-time postgraduate research degrees running in 2024-2025.
The tuition fee shown in the table is for one year only.
Tuition fees increase every year in the majority of cases.
Overseas applicants who begin their programme of study in academic year 2022-23 onwards will pay a fixed rate of tuition fee depending on the year they started their programme.
Fees for PhD and MPhil degrees
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) set the tuition fees for Home/EU students studying PhD or MPhil degrees. These tuition fees are usually confirmed later than the tuition fees for Overseas/International students.
Additional programme costs are set by each school or college.
Costs for some of our degrees are variable. All costs will be listed in your letter of admission.
If you are a new student from the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and plan to start your studies in 2021-2022 or later, your tuition fees are likely to be in line with the international rate.
Applicants who may be eligible for a 'home' fee status
If you already have the right to live in the UK, you may be eligible for a 'home' fee status.

Deferred entry
If you have already accepted an offer but deferred entry until 2021-22 or later, your fee status will follow the latest guidance, not that of the year you applied./p>
Continuing students
If you have already started your studies, your fee status will not change.
